Вышла новая версия бесплатной, кроссплатформеной IDE от нашего соотечественника, по мнению многих данная IDE являеться лучшей для разработки на Java. IDE входит в состав Sun Studio, что уже являеться признанием.

К сожалению на сайте разработчиков последней русской версией являеться версия 3,5 (страница давно не обновлялась)

Что нового:
J2SE 5.0 "Tiger" Language Support
* Constructs such as enums, generics or metadata annotations to build and edit applications without additional setup

Project System based on Apache Ant
* NetBeans is the first IDE to base its projects system entirely on Apache Ant, allowing developers to easily share build scripts between teams and ensure that automated builds run the same as builds within the IDE. There is no vendor lock-in and no proprietary file formats.

Refactoring
* Technology from Sun Labs' Jackpot project serves as the basis for this feature, which provides simplified code maintenance for developers.

Performance Profiler
* Enables memory profiling and leak detection, CPU performance profiling, low-overhead profiling, task-based profiling, and tight integration into the IDE workflow.

Webtier Development
* Extended support for both J2EE version 1.3 and 1.4 platform standards. Allows developers to use natural and practical source structres, easily manage libraries and provide more integrated build capability for Web applications including WAER archive packaging.

Expanded Support for J2ME Development
* Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) 2.0 and Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) 1.1 and suport for the J2ME Wireless Toolkit (WTK) 2.2. Seamlessly write, build and debug code for a variety of mobile devices without the need to write device-specific code.

Simple, Attractive and Highly Efficient Windowing System
* Support multiple editors per document, sliding windows ensure that additional tools and palettes are easily accessible and the work remains uncluttered.
